Prince Edward County Wineries Part 2

September 24, 2012

Prince Edward County is truly breathtaking. I took the above picture while stopping on a country road in between wine tasting. I love the wineries in the area. I have been to the more popular Niagara-on-the-lake wineries last year but I found them too spread out and too commercialized. PEC felt more cozy and less crowded. The wineries were all grouped together in Wellington.
Our next stop was Rosehall Run. Having bought a bottle of wine at the LCBO the night before, we decided to visit the winery to taste more variety.
I tried a couple of whites and rosé. My bf had this idea that I needed to start liking rosé. I really hate sweet drinks but he persuaded me to try a few on this trip with the help of all of our tasting guides. I took a sip of the rosé and it was too sweet for me. I settled on purchasing the 2011 SZ white instead.
Next was a highly recommended Karlo Estates winery. My friend was raving about this place so I had to come here.
I love that they converted a barn into their tasting room and store.
Inside was stunning. I love the wood beams and ceiling. The natural lighting was stunning!
Live music while you taste your wines. She was really an amazing singer!
The staff was really friendly and attentive. We tasted a variety of wines and each wine was paired with either nuts/cheese/sausages. I love the attention to detail.
I ended up purchasing 2010 Chardonnay and 2011 Frontenac Gris rosé (finally liked it!!). After purchasing two bottles, the tasting was free!
We ended up exploring the winery grounds after our tasting.
We found the bridge that was built in 2007. The bridge is a mortarless structure made of chocolate limestone.
 Very sturdy bridge!!
I really had an amazing time exploring the different wineries that day.

Part 3 coming up soon!
